Cleaning Checklist

Your property needs to be immaculately clean before it is put on the market.

A clean property will:

  • Attract high quality tenants
  • Reduce vacancy time
  • Get you top dollar rent for your rental home
  • Ensures a smooth move-in process for your tenants

The following items must be completed before JAG Property Management will begin marketing your property:

  • Remove all personal items and trash from the house and yard
  • Thoroughly clean refrigerator, inside, outside, top, under and behind
  • Thoroughly clean interior and exterior of dishwasher, washer and dryer
  • Thoroughly clean stove, including under the burners. Replace old or stained drip pans. Clean the floor underneath the stove drawer. Thoroughly clean the oven. Self-clean does not do a complete job.
  • Clean range hood including the filter. Dishwashing the filter works great!
  • Clean cabinets and drawers throughout the house (vacuum and damp wipe out). Install fresh drawer and shelf liners if the existing surfaces are stained.
  • Thoroughly dust and clean mini blinds and curtains.
  • Remove nails/screws/anchors from walls and patch and paint repair spots to match
  • Vacuum and scrub vinyl floors until clean
  • Thoroughly wipe down walls as needed, including light switches, electric outlets, and wall plates
  • Wipe down thermostats, door bells, and smoke detectors as needed
  • Clean windows, inside with Windex, and use a hose sprayer outside. Secure all screens.
  • Vacuum and clean sliding window and sliding glass door tracks
  • Thoroughly clean bathrooms including exhaust fan covers, tub/shower enclosure, glass doors and tracks
  • Clean closet doors, closet shelves and rods
  • Wipe down hot water heater
  • Vacuum/wipe down door frames and baseboards
  • Hire a professional to clean all carpets (do not use a grocery store rental as these do not clean nearly as well as professional equipment will)
  • Replace all burned out or missing light bulbs. Decorator bulbs must match
  • Thoroughly clean/wash light fixtures and bulbs
  • If you have a fireplace insert or fireplace, the chimney(s) must be professionally inspected and cleaned
  • Replace the HVAC filter and make sure coils are cleaned
  • Replace smoke detector batteries if this has not been done in the last six months
  • Wood decks – sweep and remove dirt or mildew
  • Remove all potted plants, pots, and dirt from the property
  • Mow, trim, edge, weed, and water the yard
  • Make needed repairs to screens and screen doors
  • Make sure all utility accounts are paid in full
  • Have your garbage picked up and cans emptied
